JAKARTA : July 15, 2006 |
| |

This time the event was held at Bumi Perkemahan Pramuka (Scout Camping Area) in Ragunan Pasar Minggu. The children were grouped into 2 groups : those up to 3rd grade, and those in 4th and 5th grades. The activities were also organized into these 2 categories to suit the children’s interests. Early in the morning these children had turned up in the area, and were very eager to take parts in the activities.
These children came from ISCO’s different sponsored areas, Plumpang-Tanah Merah, Duri Kosambi, Kp.Lio-Depok, Kp.Gege-Kebon Jeruk, Manggarai and Cipinang Besar Selatan.
The event was led by 2 cheerful MCs from ISCO, who started by singing along with the children, and asked the children to present their specific yells which they had prepared beforehand. Then, when all had turned up in the area, the children were free to go to any game base around the area, which interested them, according to their age categories.

|
The children were all excited and enthusiastic to join individual as well as team games and challenges prepared in the game bases. They lined up eagerly to wait for their turns. They could earn as many points, as long as they participated in as many games as they wanted, and be the winner. |
Then the children had their lunch prepared by the organizer, while resting after very hectic yet joyful activities. Their tired faces suddenly changed back to cheerful and happy ones, as the organizer announced and presented the gifts and awards to those children with outstanding school performance as well as those with very good attendance rates to school and activity centers.

MEDAN : July 2006 |
| |
In this year’s event, we did not invite the children’s parents, since we wanted to develop the children’s self reliance. Although many of these children experienced sickness during the journey to the location, they were very happy and excited as they reached the destination.
The event was held in Taman Dewi, about 100 km South of Medan. The children sang and danced together. Some of them performed traditional dances, such as “Sipatokaan” performed by children from Polonia, and “Boom-boom” performed by children from Belawan.
The children spent the rest of the afternoon playing children games together with their tutors and Project Officers.

HAGIS (Hari Gembira Anak ISCO) |
| |
Hari Gembira Anak ISCO (or in English : ISCO Children’s Happy Day) is an activity organized every year by ISCO, usually around January, i.e. after the first school semester. This event is primarily to push the children’s motivation to do even better in the coming second semester, by giving awards to those children with high (>97%) school attendance rate, high (>85%) activity center attendance rate, and those in top-10 rankings in their respective classes.
 |
HAGIS was first held in January 2005, which took place in Youth Center Bulungan, South Jakarta. The auditorium was set-up in an amusement center theme, where ISCO placed many game corners around the room, and the children could choose any game they wished to play and win some prizes. The children also gave some performances in the form of an operetta, where they danced and sang. |
In January 29, 2006, the event took place in Bumi Perkemahan Ragunan (BPR), with a theme of “Ayo…Gembira Berkreasi bersama ISCO”. The place was an open area with a lot of trees and open grasses, so the children really enjoyed pruning around the area. There were alos game corners where children could join as many as they wished. Most games were physical and involved outdoor activities.
The event started at 9.00 a.m. and ended by 16.00. There were 271 children, 43 ISCO stafs and tutors, and also 10 volunteers joined this activity,
After lunch, we gave out the presents and awards for those children qualified for outstanding performances.

Children Activities |
| |
In ISCO’s Children Activity Centers, we prepare many educational and creative activities to help children understand their school work in a more fun and play method. The activity modules were designed to motivate children to know more about the subject areas. Some of the activities involve visits to the museums, landmarks around the city, planetarium, or some institutions, like police station, fire department, TV station, and airport. We would like to expose the children to different occupations and professions, have a more broaden view on things around them.
At the airport Halim Perdana Kusumah, the children were so astonished to see big airplanes, and comfortable seats in the planes. They were even allowed to sit on the President’s seat. They were very thrilled… and all wish to be PILOTs some day….
In the TV station, the children took a studio tour, and saw TV cameras, big TV screens, and the TV crews. They were shown how the television station operates. |
